Markus, 10 years old, with his father Günter / 20 April 1996, Olympic Stadium Munich / second round of the 95/96 season / FC Bayern - Eintracht Frankfurt 1:1
When Markus remembers his first visit to the stadium in April 1996, what comes to mind most is the Olympic Stadium, the lake and the surrounding area in the Olympic Park, which he now thinks back to with longing - and that he and the other kids actually ran down to the fence of the main stand the whole time during the match to get a better look at the players.
The game itself, an unspectacular draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, to which he travelled by bus with his father Günter, Bayern-a supporter since the glorious 70s, and his home club FC Bayreuth, became almost a minor matter.
A real Bayern-fan - "with perspective! - but he was already a real fan before his first visit to the stadium, even though his grandfather was a die-hard Clubber, not least because of his proximity to Nuremberg. The jersey, which he saved up himself and bought extra large so that it would fit longer, and the flag, which he bought at the bus station before the game - he still has both today and they hang in the garden shed that has been converted into a fan club meeting place.
Even if the Bayern are no longer at home in the Olympiastadion, the love for clubhas continued to grow and Markus is proud that he became a fan at a time when Bayern-Markus is proud that he became a fan at a time that was not yet marked by permanent success. But he wouldn't complain about a 10th championship in a row either.
