The striking masts of the Ostseestadion have been a landmark of the city since 1970 and witness to various soccer dramas: In the East German Oberliga, during the ups and downs after reunification and also during the Kogge's victory against the great FC Barcelona in the European Cup of Champions in 1991, they illuminated the pitch from a height of almost 50 meters. Their unmistakable architecture still characterizes the skyline of the Hanseatic city today and will continue to do so in the future - the masts are to be renewed in exactly the same style from 2024.
